ePay API: the programmers method

The ePay API (Application Programming Interface) integrates ePay seamlessly into a web site or shopping cart, so that ePay is transparent to the user.

• The user stays within your web site.
• The site can be hosted anywhere.
• Your web site needs SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to encrypt transactions.
• It is preferable that customer orders are written to a database on your site.
• Integrating ePay can be achieved by any competent web developer, or Multibase can do the work for you.

Use the ePay API if you have:

• A database-driven shopping cart
• Programming skills available to integrate ePay into your shopping cart, in any Internet technology
• SSL on your web site to encrypt transactions, with a command line tool or program server client to establish an SSL connection from your web server to ePay.
• The ability to receive transaction results and order details on your web site, and to report the result to your customers.

ePay hosted payment page

The ePay secure hosted payment page does not require SSL or a secure page on the merchant’s web site.

Buyers select the products on your web page. Collect them in a simple shopping cart or just use a “Buy Now” button on the web page.

• Include a small piece of HTML code (which we supply) in your page to pass the amount and purchase details to ePay.
• The customer enters their personal details on ePay’s hosted secure page.
• Once the customer submits the payment, the transaction is processed.
• Results are recorded in the ePay database from which the merchant will be able to retrieve details of the order.
• The customer clicks a redirect link on the transaction result page to return to your web site. This can include variables such as a cookieID that you can pass through a URL. (This manual click enhances security, compared with an automatic return.)

Use the ePay Payment Page if you have:

A simple order page or no database shopping cart
• Minimal technical skills
• No SSL on your web site
• Transaction results and orders reported to ePay’s result page, by email, and ePay’s online database
